January 31st

Last day of January! We took a hike in Forest Park while the weather was good. Looking forward to February!

January 29th

Me kicking Aaron's butt at shuffleboard. Nuf said.

January 27th

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and the cats took advantage of watching the birds outside. I was messing with different aperture settings, and this one turned out to look like an evening sun.

January 26th

I was just testing out the macro, but it was the only pic I took that day, so I guess I have to count it.

January 25th

I came back in the apartment with a load of clean clothes and put the basket on the ground,... right side up. I then walked out of the room, then I heard a loud scuffle, and when I came back in the room I saw this...

I always knew Luna was part ninja.

January 23rd

Supercon! This was the first year this took place and we got to be apart of it. Apparently everybody dresses up like a superhero and pub crawls their way across Portland. It was a blast!

January 22nd

Cheap lunch--Sushi! This place is near Aaron's work, so I biked down to meet him. It was our first sushi turning bar thingy experience. Yummy!!

January 21st

Okay, today will make up for it! I have to have two photos.. I could not decide! This first one is very interesting to me... A few years ago, Kelly and I took a road trip from Arizona to check out some schools along the way. We were staying in hostels, and this is the one we stayed in, in Portland. Across the street is a coffee shop called World Cup. I remember after my tour of Lewis and Clark going to that coffee shop to look over some of the literature about the school and thinking, "Gosh, what a great school! What a great neighborhood! Wouldn't it be amazing if I got in, AND found a place to live in this neighborhood?" Fast forward to today, and now I am sitting in that coffee shop, looking at the hostel we stayed at, studying from my classes at LC, and living only a few blocks away. Funny how things turn out.

While Flagstaff was getting dumped with snow, it felt like spring in Portland. On my way home I noticed so many people in the park soaking in all the vitamin D they could. This juggler was pretty good!

January 20th

Really dumb photo. Aaron is just trying to get Luna out of the bedroom. Of course, I forgot my camera that day, and it would have been a great photo if I had brought it. I will need to reserve that place on campus for another day.... I need to glue the camera to myself. I am hoping it will get better.

January 19th

Check out my cape! I made it!!! Once again, I forgot to bring my camera with me... I went over to Sam's apartment, and we made our capes for Supercon this weekend. She has a sewing machine, and for not sewing since college, I did pretty good! I will need to have a checklist when I leave the house... ID, check. Keys, check. Camera, check. No more taking pics in my apartment, they are getting boring, and aren't artistic whatsoever!

January 18th

Aaron came back from out of town, and his mom got me some slippers. I got some from his grandmother for Christmas, but Kona chewed them up! So she decided to get these for me instead!

January 16th and 17th

I was completely lame all weekend..... Aaron was out of town, and I was studying at home. So, both days I forgot to take a photo. Saturday night, I did go out with my friend Kelly from school, but of course, I forgot the camera, and felt pretty bummed about it. But for your viewing pleasure, here is a photo Aaron took!

January 15th

On Friday many of us from our cohort at school met up for dinner. I just met for a drink, but it was great to see everyone again. I don't have any classes with anyone in my cohort, so this semester is a bit lonely, but I'll meet more people! We agreed to meet once a month to catch up. I mentioned my resolution, and said I was going to take a picture, then everyone got up and posed, so it turned out to be pretty awkward! We all laughed afterward, and said, "wow, that was pretty awkward!"

January 14th

I took Kona on a longer walk today as the sun was peaking it's way through, I wanted to take advantage of it. We saw this mural by a school, which is also right by a dog park. Behind the mural is the beginning of the dog park, but of course, we didn't go in. Not only because she's a brat, but the "park" consisted of ankle deep mud, which required everyone to wear wellies.

January 13th

I'm so sad to see this plant die... But I think it's time. I bought this for myself on my birthday about three years ago in Flagstaff. It had rather large leaves on it, almost the size of my hand. Then it got a disease, and I cut back the entire plant, only leaving a stump. Amazingly, it grew back, but the leaves were tiny, like a bonsai. Once we moved to Portland, it got a weird fungus on the soil, and as much as I scraped it, alcohol sprayed it, ect. it just didn't go away, but it didn't seem to be hurting the plant. The other day, I noticed it was dry, so I watered it. Now it's dead. I guess it didn't like to be watered. The stump is a weird color, so I'm afraid whatever is killing it is in the roots now. So long plant... you were one of my favorites..

January 12th

I decided to go to campus to day to get my books and check out where one of my classes was held. My class was on the main part of campus, so I wasn't too familiar with it. Although this isn't my favorite and I turned back around I caught a rainbow. It was pouring rain, and the sun was just breaking through. On my way home, I got a call from Aaron. He wanted me to pick him up and take him to the doctor. Turns out he had a nasty sinus infection, and after waiting FOREVER to get a prescription filled at Walgreens... we finally got it. Needless to say we know what every product they have and on each aisle! We found many of your future Christmas gifts as well, including a Colossal Remote. Who's the lucky one to get that this year? No... I would never buy useless plastic stuff..

January 11th

You got me... didn't take a picture. Well I lasted 10 days, that's pretty good! Frankly there was nothing to interesting... unless I take a picture of my cat, which would be kind of weird. I want to at least save those for when they are doing something interesting...

January 10th

We decided to walk Kona in the ghettos... where she belongs. No, it's really not the ghettos, it's actually close to our place. What an interesting day.... We had to watch the Cardinals during the first playoff game, which they beat the Packers in overtime, WHOO HOO!! We thought for sure they would lose, but I guess it's the Cardinal special. Scrape by in the regular season, and for some reason win every game in the playoffs...

January 9th

Julie and Josh invited us and Sam and Matt over for Indian food. We saw her new house (which is incredible), and enjoyed the best Indian food I've had. Granted, I'm not too familiar with it, but notice all our plate are empty..

January 8th

Alright... totally lazy day. But since it was still considered vacation, I painted my nails for the first time in years, and had a glass of wine. It was relaxing!

January 7th

After four days of following recipes, I needed to take a break, and do some experimenting in the kitchen. We got a hawaiian spice rub in our stockings, so this was the inspiration for this creation in the kitchen! It is coconut crusted chicken over wheat rice, topped with homemade biryani curry with pineapple, tomato and pearl onion. It was great... (if I do say so myself :)

January 6th

HA! I KNEW I had a regular picture for Jan. 6th. Here it is... I must have missed it. I decided to get out of the apartment, and check out a coffee shop, Anna Banana's, near our place that I've never been to. It was amazing!! It's in an old Victorian house, so it's separated by rooms. I ordered their famous Doot Da Doo, and it's my new favorite drink. It's a chai, with two shots of espresso on top. De-lic-ious!

January 5th

I have a helper in the kitchen, and if I'm lucky, every once in a while she puts her "lab ears" on, and looks less like a vicious pitbull. Today, she only had one on, so I had to quickly grab the camera before she took it off. One of these days I'll get a photo with both ears on!

January 4th

Tuna Casserole from Cuisine At Home: While talking with my friend Jeff on the phone, I meant to sprinkle some parsley on the top before putting the casserole in the oven. I accidently grabbed the tarragon, which does not have a sprinkle top, and dumped it..... I had to scrap it away, but it turned out good!

January 3rd

The last Seahawks game of the season. A crap season it was indeed, but we needed to watch it in style. There were many other important games that day, and a few of our teams went on... does anyone know who the Steelers are playing next???? OOOOHHhhh Right!!! THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT IN THE PLAYOFFS! HA!

January 2nd

With some of our Christmas money, we decided to go to one of the local breweries that everyone keeps telling us to go to: The Green Dragon. It was across the river, and the beer was indeed delicious!

January 1st, 2010

Some of our very good friends, Heidi and Erica, came down from Washington to celebrate the new decade in downtown Portland! It was a great time, and I took far too many pictures; but here is one of my favorites! It had to be after midnight, since it was the 1st, so my options were limited. We walked home in the pouring rain, and as we all had to pee, Heidi walked the fastest, as her boots were giving her feet utter pain.

New Year/New Location

I've completely dropped the ball on the blog, not that anyone is looking, and expecting to have me update this... but anyway, much has happened since I last posted. Rather than updating, I'm just starting fresh. I, in particular, have had a difficult time adjusting to living in Portland, and since it's a new year, I thought I would start fresh, and not look back! For Christmas, Aaron and I got a new camera, and one of my resolution, is to take one photo a day and post it. I realize there may be some days that I may skip, but I thought I'd do the best I can. It would be interesting to look back on (hopefully) 365 photos as a journal to what we were doing that particular day during the year. Enjoy!
